Finding baseball game outfits that are practical and comfortable is tough in July and August. The hottest days of summer always seem to coincide with the longest, most difficult baseball tournaments for our kids. I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that I’ve spent wayyyy too much time recently trying to figure out what to wear to my boys’ baseball games during this oppressive heat wave that’s sweeping the country. As Baseball Moms, we’re constantly balancing comfort and practicality with the desire to look good and feel ‘put together’.
We need outfits that are cute, casual, and comfortable. Personally, I’m all about being comfortable! I know that every travel game or tournament, whether home or away, I’m going to be loading stuff into and out of the back of my SUV multiple times. Pulling a gigantic cooler. Helping my husband put up the canopy tent. I’m going to be sitting and standing multiple times. I need outfits that are going to keep me cool, while still looking ‘cool.’ And personally I look for outfits that keep all my ‘assets’ covered – – nothing riding up or hanging down when I’m squatting to get into the cooler or reaching up to help put up the canopy tent. No – being a Baseball Mom isn’t a glamorous role. However, it doesn’t mean we can’t look good while doing it.
What to Wear to a Baseball Game
So, what exactly should your wear to a baseball game? The short answer – dress for comfort and practicality. Leggings, stretch fabrics, and comfortable tank tops are examples of key pieces for any baseball outfit. Many of my favorite baseball game outfits have been purchased off Amazon. Like I said, I’m all about being comfortable and practical – – and you can’t beat the comfort of shopping from home, or the practicality of free two day shipping from Prime.

Tank Tops Perfect for Game Day
This Under Armour Women’s Tech Solid Tank Top is made of a material that is quick drying and ultra soft. It wicks sweat and has anti-odor technology, which if you’re used to trying to get sweaty odors out of athleisure gear, you know it’s pretty revolutionary.
This Baseball Mom Tank Top by ViLove got excellent reviews. It’s not super short, or clingy, meaning that it checks those boxes for being comfortable and practical. It’s also really cute!
Made of 100% cotton, the adidas Originals Women’s Relaxed Plus Adjustable Strapback Hat is a classic hat to always keep in your Baseball Mom bag.
If you’re looking for something more casual and broken in, this Vintage Washed Distressed Twill Baseball Cap is low profile and extremely comfortable. It also has an adjustable buckle and comes in Unisex sizing, so if you’re looking for a larger hat, this may be a great option for you.
Baseball Game Ready ‘Bottoms’
Levi Strauss & Co basically invented denim jeans, so you can’t go wrong with these Signature by Levi Strauss & Co. Gold Label Women’s Mid-Rise Bermuda Shorts. They’re the perfect pair of shorts – – that in-between length between short and long, and you can customize the length by simply rolling or unrolling the cuff. Made of a cotton/polyester/elastane fabric blend, these shorts are stretchy and comfortable no matter how long your day lasts.
If you’re not a shorts wearer (usually me), then you likely own several (ten? twenty?) pairs of capri leggings. Even in the hottest summer heat, I usually wear high waisted capri leggings as they protect my legs from sunburn and are comfortable from a chilly morning through the heat of the day until a cooler night.
BALEAF Women’s Yoga High Waist Capris, 3/4 length are my favorite Amazon brand of leggings. These leggings are soft, moisture-wicking, breathable, and stretchy. There are 3 pockets, which is perfect for slipping in small items like cash, your cellphone, or keys if you’re leaving your team’s ‘tent city’ and walking up to the concession stand or bathroom, and you don’t want to carry your Baseball Mom bag.
Sometimes you don’t want to carry a gigantic Baseball Mom bag. This Under Armour Hustle Sport Backpack is a great go-to when you don’t want to bring a ton of stuff to the field. It’s water and stain resistant, and has padded ergonomic straps for comfort.
This NGIL Large Canvas Tote Bag is the perfect ‘Baseball Mom Bag.’ It has an easy to clean canvas exterior, loads of interior space, and lots of pockets.
The Under Armour Marbella VII Flip Flop is the most comfortable flip flop I’ve ever worn. The strap has a soft foam lining to prevent irritation on the top of your feet. The coolest feature, however is the footbed, which has anatomical contours and two layers of 4d foam, making these flip flops unbelievably comfortable no matter how long you wear them in a day.
Sometimes wearing flip flops to the field doesn’t make sense. If you know you’re going to be walking a lot, walking through gravel, or moving from field to field for a tournament, an athletic shoe makes more sense than sandals. The Adidas Cloudfoam Pure Running Shoe is my go-to shoe for wearing to the ball field. It has extra cushioning, is breathable, it’s light, and has a stretchy one piece construction. The liner is even soft enough to wear without socks.
As Baseball Moms, we’re constantly balancing comfort and practicality with the desire to look good and feel ‘put together’. There’s no need to overthink it. A cute tank top paired with stretchy, comfortable bottoms, a baseball cap, and comfortable but cute shoes is all you need to pull together perfect baseball game outfits.
